LARGO, Fla. (970 WFLA) – Largo Police say a Pinellas County teacher has been arrested on two felony counts of transmission of material harmful to minors.

Police say they were called to the Highland Recreation Center Monday to investigate a report of an adult female and a juvenile being seen entering a unisex restroom on the 2nd floor. Police say the two remained inside the restroom for ten minutes before officers arrived.

Police say the woman, 45-year-old Lesley R. Brown, stated she goes to the gym three days a week and the 17-year-old juvenile is her workout partner and spotter. During questioning, police say both parties were adamant that nothing occurred and they locked the door because they heard voices and didn't want it to appear as if something was going on.

Police say the mother of the juvenile was called to take custody of her son and Brown was issued a trespass warning for the complex by recreation staff. Later that night, Largo police obtained cell phone images found on the 17-year-old's cell phone containing nude pictures of Brown, which also included lewd text communication.

Tuesday, Largo Police say they arrested Lesley Brown on two felony counts of transmission of material harmful to minors.

Police say Brown is employed by the Pinellas County School System as a fourth grade teacher at Fuguitt Elementary. Police also say the relationship between the two is not in any way affiliated with her position as a teacher nor did the two meet in an educational setting.

Below is the statement from Pinellas County Schools regarding Lesley R. Brown sent from Estes Dawn:

“Pinellas County Schools is conducting an investigation into the allegations against Lesley R. Brown, a fourth-grade teacher at FuguittElementary School. Ms. Brown has been employed by the PinellasCountySchool District for six years and has no prior discipline record.  The alleged incident involving Ms. Brown did not occur on Pinellas County Schools property and did not involve one of her students. Details surrounding Ms. Brown’s arrest are being handled by the Largo Police Department.”
