After a devastating hit on wide receiver and punt returner Terrence Mitchell, many feared the worst.  The good news for Mitchell is that he was diagnosed with a concussion, released from the hospital, and at practice on Sunday.

Unfortunately for Mitchell and the Bulls, Mitchell will be out as USF opens up Big East play Thursday night at Pitt.

"I certainly don't see him playing Thursday night," Skip Holtz said at his weekly press conference.

Mitchell is part of a deep group at receiver for the Bulls, but he is also the team's punt returner.

In last year's 17-10 loss to Pitt, Mitchell scored USF's only touchdown on a 45 yard reverse.

Evan Landi filled in for Mitchell as the team's punt returner against UTEP.

"We call him 'Fair Catch Landi'," Holtz said. "He does a great job of catching punts and we feel comfortable with him back there."

Holtz also said that Victor Marc and Andre Davis would be options at punt return, but that they wouldn't make a decision on the team's punt returner until they get closer to Thursday night.

You can listen to USF's first Big East game on Thursday night with the pregame beginning at 6:00 and kickoff at 8:00 on 970 WFLA.
