After a miserable first half from three-point range USF turned things around, and then held on for its first Big East win of the season, 61-58 over Georgetown Saturday at the Sun Dome.

USF was 1-for-14 in the first half and trailed 31-23. Georgetown extended the lead to 11 early after the break only to see the Bulls go on a 12-0 run, all on 3s, and take the lead less than five minutes later.

The Bulls hit 7-of-9 at one stretch and the teams went back and forth. Anthony Collins scored all 14 of his points in the second half, including a couple of free throws with 3 seconds remaining after Georgetown turned it over with a chance to win. Collins chipped in with a couple of threes after only having three through the first 16 games.

Otto Porter scored 21 points for Georgetown, which fell to 12-4 overall, 2-3 in the Big East. Jawanza Poland scored 15 for the Bulls (10-7) with his free throws at the 3:40 serving as the last USF points until Collins' free throws.

USF only turned the ball over five times. Freshman Javontae Hawkins continued his improved play of late scoring 12 points.
