Saturday obviously didn't go how Bulls head coach Stan Heath drew it up.
UCF used double-doubles from Conference USA preseason player of the year Keith Clanton and Isaiah Sykes to hand USF a definitive 74-56 loss to open the renovated Sun Dome.
The Bulls led at just one point in the game, after Toarlyn Fitzpatrick hit a three to make it 7-6 less than three minutes into the game. The Knights went on a 34-17 from that point until the first half.
The second half saw UCF stretch their lead to as many as 21 poibts before settling for the 18-point victory.
The Knights had four of their five starters reach double figures in scoring, with Sykes leading the way with 26 points to go along with 11 rebounds and eight assists. Clanton added 16 points and 16 boards. Tristan Spurlock had 14 points, and Kasey Wilson added 13.
USF had just one player reach double-figures, with Jawanza Poland going for 22 off the bench.
