USF dropped their second straight game on Saturday afternoon as they fall to Ball State 31-27. The Bulls pulled ahead with four minutes to go in the contest on quarterback BJ Daniels third touchdown pass of the game, but the Bulls defense allowed the Cardinals to come back and score in the final moments of the contest.
After a first quarter in which both teams traded field goals, the Cardinals would outscore the Bulls 21-9 through the half way point of the third quarter. The Bulls found themselves down twelve with three minutes in the third quarter remaining, but made a comeback off touchdown catches by Andre Davis and Lindsey Lamar to take a three point lead with four minutes left in the ball game.
Ball State would drive 75 yards in ten plays capping the drive off with a Willie Snead 19 yard touchdown catch in the back corner of the end zone. The Bulls did attempt to make another dramatic comeback in the final seconds of the game, but the Cardinals intercepted BJ Daniels to close out the game.
Daniels finished 19-30 for 312 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Daniels also led the Bulls in rushing with 75 yards on fourteen carries.
The Bulls out gained the the Cardinals 518-413 but the Bulls defense could not stop QB Keith Wenning who passed for 244 yards and touchdowns. Wenning finished the game with a season high 141.9 QB rating.
The Bulls have a tough task ahead as they welcome in Florida State to Raymond James Stadium next week.
