Neil Solondz of the Tampa Bay Rays broadcast team spoke with Tom Jones and Rick Stroud on Tuesday.  While Solondz was talking about the team, he shared his opinion on the Evan Longoria injury situation.

"First of all, in Evan's case, I think it was a smart thing.  I honestly was surprised that he went on rehab," Solondz said on the Sports Page.

"Before he went out and joined Durham, most of the media got to watch him run at the Trop," Solondz said.  "He was running very tentatively.  And I know how badly he wants to be out there.  I know how many games he's missed."

Longoria is a key part for the Rays, especially for a run at the postseason.

"They [Rays] need their best player to compete for a playoff spot at the end of the season," Solondz said.  "If they have to wait an extra seven or ten days to make sure he's 100 percent, I'd rather have that than having Evan come back and reinjure himself."
