The "War on I-4" lived up to its billing Saturday, with the visiting Predators claiming a wild 55-48 victory over the Storm at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The winning TD came after Tampa Bay's defense finally came up with a stop, an interception by Jean Fanor, to set up Jason Chery's tying touchdown to make it 48 apiece. But on the next play Orlando's Aaron Garcia hit Prechae Rodriguez for a 45-yard touchdown. There was still 5:24 remaining and it only got crazy from there.
Tampa Bay turned it over on downs and, when it looked like the Storm's only hope was to let Orlando score at the one-minute mark, Garcia stumbled and thew a terrible pass. Rashad Barksdale intercepted it and actually ran the ball 57 yards for a TD -- but replay showed he was pushed out of bounds back at the 4.
Still the Storm had no life, only to have it sucked out when Chery had it stripped away at the Predators 18 after a 21-yard gain.
Rodriguez caught 12 passes for 157 yards and five touchdowns. Adrian McPherson threw for 314 yards and seven touchdowns for the Storm.
Mike Lindsey had five catches for 91 yards and was ejected on a controversial play in the third quarter.
