Not surprisingly Florida State received a place in the National Invitation Tournament, and the Noles drew the right to host a first-round game as well.

FSU opens Tuesday night (7:15 p.m.) against Louisiana Tech. The Eagles were 26-3 and ranked less than three weeks ago but ended their season with three straight defeats, including to 9-21 Texas-San Antonio in the WAC quarterfinals.

As a regular-season conference champ La Tech earned an automatic spot in the NIT. Florida State is a fourth seed and would likely head to No. 1 seed Southern Miss for the second round if it wins.

Southern Miss opens with Charleston Southern; should the Bucs pull the upset FSU would host again. The top seed hosts each of the first three rounds then the final four teams convene in New York City to determine the champion.

The other No. 1 seeds are Kentucky, Alabama and Virginia.

Florida State is 18-15.
