Devonta Freeman ran for a career-high 148 yards and two touchdowns as FSU cruised to a 41-14 win at Maryland Saturday afternoon.
Maryland's offense simply couldn't muster much of anything against the stout Noles. It was 27-0 at half as the Terps had three first downs and 27 total yards. But for a late turnover as FSU, which could have just taken a knee, the Terps would have finished with single digits in first downs. Instead they put up a late touchdown pass.
The Noles are 10-1 overall and clinched a spot in the ACC title game. Before that FSU takes on the Florida Gators next Saturday.
Freeman's 47-yard run set up his own 2-yard score that put the Noles ahead 34-7 with 3:12 left in the third quarter. Plant grad James Wilder Jr. capped his team's scoring with a 22-yard rumble in the closing minutes.
E.J. Manuel was 17 of 23 for 144 yards and two touchdowns. His day ended early in the fourth quarter as the Noles were comfortably ahead.
