The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced on Monday that the club has signed  defender Andres Arango to a one-year contract with a club option for  2014.

With two regulars among the back four no longer with the team it became important to secure Arango.

The veteran defender has played the last two seasons with the Rowdies,  and prior to joining them he captained  Minnesota. In the 2011 season, Arango started 19 games and played in  1,561 minutes. In 2012, Arango played a key role in bringing the 2012  NASL Soccer Bowl title to Tampa Bay, starting in 16 regular season  matches and four postseason matches for a total of 1,783 minutes. Arango picked up a crucial assist in the second leg of the 2012 NASL  Championship Series against Minnesota, where he nodded a header down to  midfielder Keith Savage, who scored leveling the aggregate score at 2-2.

At the moment, the Rowdies updated roster for the 2013 season is as follows:

Goalkeeper: Andrew Fontein;
Defenders: Frankie Sanfilippo (Captain), Jay Needham, Andres Arango, Daniel Scott, Draymond Washington; Midfields: Stuart Campbell, Luke Mulholland, Keith Savage, Shane Hill, Raphael Cox, Evans Frimpong; Forwards: Mike Ambersley, Carl Cort.
