Hockey players are tough, but apparently hockey broadcasters are too.

New York Rangers’ rinkside reporter John Giannone proved last night just how tough broadcasters can be when he took a puck in the face.

Offering color commentary for MSG Network, Giannone was standing between the benches of the Islanders and Rangers Thursday night, when Marc Staal’s backhanded clearing attempt sailed over the boards and caught him in the nose.

With blood streaming down his face and the Rangers’ trainer working to stop the flow, Giannone went live to give the gory details.
