Current 49ers assistant Jim Leavitt talked plenty about his 49ers Tuesday with Ron but also got a little into what happened at the end  of his tenure at USF.

Leavitt was the only head coach from the USF football program's inception in 1997 until January 2010, amassing a winning record of 95-57.

Less than a week after the Bulls' 2010 International Bowl victory, Leavitt was fired after an investigation by university officials found that he had grabbed one of his players by the throat and slapped him in the face in the locker room during halftime of the Louisville game on November 21, 2009.

Leavitt claimed he never struck the player, but instead was trying to console the young man. USF officials found that Leavitt was not truthful about what happened regarding the incident, and also found that he had interfered with the investigation.

The San Francisco linebackers coach has maintained the entire time that he neither struck the player nor lied about it after the fact. Leavitt continued to do more of the same Tuesday in an interview with Diaz.
