Last week, we posted the story about fallen-from-grace cyclist Lance Armstrong offering the USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) $250,000. Travis Tygart, the agency's CEO, told Scott Pelley of CBS that the sizeable donation was refused citing a conflict of interest. Tygart's interview on 60 Minutes Sports prompted Armstrong to fight back by scheduling an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's Network in an exclusive interview with the media mogul which will air Thursday.
It is now being leaked that in the discussion that taped Monday, the man that once sat atop the cycling world with seven Tour De France titles (now stripped) has finally admitted to using performance enhancing drugs.
But there's more to the story than that.
According to Greg Couch of FoxSports.com:
"And now, Armstrong reportedly will turn snitch and offer up evidence of other doping cheats, theoretically officials and guys in suits who made money off of him.
Which one do you think is more likely? He is turning others in to clear his conscience? Or he’s doing it because of a rule that says a suspension can be cut down dramatically if evidence is given to help bust others?"
Interesting.
Well folks, in a related matter, Armstrong is one of the five guys up for D-Bag of the Week. Polls will close Wednesday at 9:00 am so if this latest nugget sways you, you still have time to vote.
