Rays manager Joe Maddon announced Thursday that Evan Longoria and girlfriend Jaime Edmondson have welcomed a little girl, the first child for both.

Maddon said the third baseman texted him late Wednesday night to inform him of the birth and the fact that both Edmondson and the baby were doing well.

The baby's name has not been announced, and Longoria and Edmondson asked for privacy in this event.
