The Tampa Bay Rays held their second day of live batting practice at the team's Spring Training complex in Port Charlotte Tuesday.
Among the pitchers to throw batting practice were starters Matt Moore, Jeremy Hellickson, Chris Archer and Alex Cobb.
"The first session [of live BP] is kind of like a bullpen session to us," Cobb said afterwards. "Mostly, we're just trying to locate that fastball first and foremost, then trying to get a feel for some of those other pitches. As long as you have good fastball location, which I did today, you can walk away feeling good about it."
Manager Joe Maddon said he was impressed with Archer's time on the hill Wednesday.
"I thought Chris Archer really had a good late jump to his pitches," Maddon said. "I thought that was very exciting to watch."
The team also had their first session of bunt drills both as a defense as well as at the plate in the form of the safety squeeze Maddon has used frequently over the last few seasons.
FOR WEDNESDAY: The Rays will have their third-to-last full-squad practice session, with the team taking another round of live batting practice. Among the pitchers scheduled to throw batting practice: David Price, Jeff Niemann, Roberto Hernandez and Fernando Rodney. Position players will also work on going from first to third base on a hit. Practice gets started at 9:30 and will end around 1:00.
