For a brief while Wednesday night reports had closer Fernando Rodney set to sign a two-year extension with the team.
Slight problem: the team doesn't know anything about it.
Rodney told Dominican publication El Dia, that "everything is ready" for him to get a two-year deal "although we are always looking for a three-year contract."
Shortly after that the Rays said, to the Tampa Bay Times' Marc Topkin, that there has been no conversation on the topic.
Rodney has one more year left on his contract and is set to make $2.5 million.
