Rays closer Fernando Rodney sparked quite the controversy earlier this week when he said he was going to play for his native Dominican Republic in March's World Baseball Classic and he didn't need the Rays permission to do so. As the provisional rosters began to come out Thursday, Rodney's name was on the Dominican Republic's roster as expected, but so was another Tampa Bay pitcher, Joel Peralta - Rodney's close friend.
Catcher Jose Molina was named to the Puerto Rico roster and Ben Zobrist has the chance to play for the United States.
There's only one catch to this honor - the WBC takes place the same time as Spring Training.
