B.J. Upton has landed in the National League. The centerfielder agreeing Wednesday to a five-year deal with the Atlanta Braves worth a reported $75 million.
Upton had spent his entire professional career with the Rays after being drafted second-overall by the team in 2002 out of high school. He arrived in the big leagues as a 19-year-old in 2004 playing 45 games, and played in 50 more games in 2006 before becoming a full-time outfielder in 2007.
Upton played in at least 144 games in every season since 2008, hitting .255 with 118 home runs and 447 RBI in 966 games as a Ray.
