Tampa Bay Rays LHP David Price has won the Players Choice Award as the American League's Outstanding Pitcher. Following a season in which Price set career bests in wins (20) and ERA (2.56), Price wins the award voted on by his peers over Chicago's Chris Sale and Los Angeles Angels starter Jared Weaver.
Price told the Tampa Bay Times, " To be able to gain their respect, I think is very special.''
Price is also a leading candidate for the Cy Young Award, which will be handed out next week.
The other Players Choice Award winners from the American League included Adrian Beltre (Texas) for Outstanding Player, Yoensis Cespedes (Oakland) for outstanding rookie, and Adam Dunn (Chicago White Sox) for Comeback player of the year.
In the National League The Outstanding Player was Ryan Braun (Milwaukee), Outstanding Pitcher Johnny Cueto (Cinncinnati), Outstanding Rookie Todd Frazier (Cinncinnati), and Comeback Player of the Year Adam LaRoche (Washington)
The wards that go to players in either league were given to Miguel Cabrera (Detroit) for Player of the Year and Chipper Jones (Atlanta) for man of the year.
