Rays fans have always known their team has gotten the most bang for their buck, and economists have verified the claim.

Bloomberg Businessweek has ranked the Tampa Bay Rays at the top of their "Efficiency Index" of how over the last five seasons a team has converted the money spent into victories.

4. Los Angeles Lakers (NBA)
5. Boston Celtics (NBA)
6. Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL)

8. Green Bay Packers (NFL)
9. New York Giants (NFL)
10. Boston Bruins (NHL)

For comparison, the Boston Red Sox ranked 70th on the list, while the New York Yankees are 98th.
