Tampa Bay Rays general manager Andrew Friedman joined Rick Stroud and Marc Topkin, who is filling in for Tom Jones, of the Sports Page on Monday to dicuss the outlooks on the trading deadline and injured Evan Longoria.
However before the team's trade deadline outlook is revealed, Friedman gave the latest news on Longoria.
"It's something we don't have a great answer to what's going on," Friedman said. "We're getting to the point where we're going to start increasing activity and seeing how it goes. He's going to play through some pain, so I think it's something that going to take unitl the offseason to really address. I think at the end of this week we'll have at least a better feel, but there's no clear cut answer."
In addition, Friedman spoke about the team's possibilities for trade activity at the looming deadline.
"Well, it's tricky. The Longoria thing plays into it," Friedman said.
"I don't really know how we're going to proceed over the next 10 days," he said. "I think we are a more talented team than we played, and I say that it gets back somewhat to the offense, but I don't think the starting pitching has been as good as we anticipated."
As the trade deadline nears, no one knows what direction the Tampa Bay Rays are heading in.
