Mark Martin took the green flag to start the race and led early with a very strong car when disaster struck. As Martin caught the tail of the lead lap, Juan Pablo Montoya and Bobby Labonte, spun ahead of him and collected the 55 and Kasey Kahne. Both spun towards pit road, but Martin's 55 car fiercely struck the end of the pit road wall and the car was destroyed. All of the others were able to continue, while the leader of the race was done for the day.
Before the race even started Sunday afternoon, there was bad news on the horizon for Hendrick Motorsports. Jimmie Johnson had to change his engine due to an internal failure and Dale Earnhardt Jr. was forced to switch to his backup car following a wreck in practice. Unfortunately, once the race started, things would not get better. Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart (the 14 car uses Hendrick motors) and Jimmie Johnson, with the lead in hand and only six laps remaining, would all suffer his second engine failure of the weekend.

With so many contenders suffering engine problems and incidents on track, the Roush/Fenway car of Greg Biffle was laying in wait to capitalize. A strong challenge came from the 2 car of Brad Keselowski on the final restart, but Biffle would not be denied his second win of the year. Finishing in second was Keselowski, Kasey Kahne would recover from his early spin to finish third, Dale Earnhardt Jr. placed fourth and last week's winner, Marcos Ambrose was fifth.
Here's the rest of the final standings for Sunday's race at Michigan.
