(via Tampa Bay Lightning Communications) -The Tampa Bay Lightning will open their 21st season Thursday night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum when they take on their cross-state rival, the Florida Panthers, at 7:30 p.m. and there will be plenty for fans to do. The Bolts are in Buffalo tonight to play their third and final game of a three-game road trip to open the season (NBC Sports Network, 970WFLA). Tampa Bay is currently 1-1-0 after defeating the defending Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks in the shootout on Saturday.
As a tribute to the fans, starting at 4 p.m. the Lightning players will do their annual blue carpet walk. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and see the 2013-14 Lightning arrive on Ford Thunder Alley. Players will sign autographs and take photos with fans on their way into the Times Forum. The first 10,000 fans will receive light-up thunder sticks, courtesy of the Tampa Bay Times, and following the game fans will receive a Lightning magnet schedule, courtesy of Sun Sports, while supplies last.
Ford Thunder Alley will have its grand opening prior to the game. In addition to the blue carpet walk, there will be a stilt walker, face painter and balloon artist. The Distinguished Gentlemen of Brass, DJ Casper, DJ LaSage, the Lightning Girls, the Bolt Brigade and ThunderBug will be on hand to entertain. Fans will also be able to sample from multiple food trucks, Fat Tortillas, Dochos and Faedos To Go, on Ford Thunder Alley.
The $12 Kids Ticket program, presented by Subway, is available for the first 10 home games of the season. Children are eligible for a $12 ticket in the Terrace Level with the purchase of one full priced adult ticket. They are available for purchase at the McDonald’s Ticket Office at the Times Forum only while supplies last.
