(TAMPA, FL Tampa Bay Lightning Press Release) – FOX’s Sun Sports and the Tampa Bay Lightning announced the team’s local broadcast television schedule for the 2013-2014 season today. Sun Sports, the regional television home of the Lightning, will broadcast 77 games in HD on the network.
Play-by-play announcer Rick Peckham and color analyst Bobby “The Chief” Taylor will provide viewers with expert commentary throughout the season. Lightning host Paul Kennedy, will join returning analysts Dave Andreychuk and Chris Dingman on LIGHTNING LIVE, Sun Sports’ pregame show for home and road games, and extended postgame show for all telecasts. Lightning pre- and post-game shows for away games will continue originating from the FOX Sports Studio in Fort Lauderdale.
Sun Sports’ Lightning broadcasts this season will feature an exciting new addition for viewers. Kelly Nash will join the broadcast team this season as social media reporter, as well as host of select INSIDE THE LIGHTNING episodes. The popular INSIDE THE LIGHTNING series returns and will feature player profiles and episodes offering behind-the-scenes access to other aspects of the team and its operations -- all designed to bring the fans closer to their favorite team. There are seven new episodes tentatively scheduled to air throughout the upcoming season.
Sun Sports is ramping up programming for Lightning fans in anticipation of the new season. A second Bolts Summer Bash episode will premiere this afternoon at 6 p.m. on the network, giving fans an inside look at their favorite team. On Friday, September 27th, at 11 p.m., Sun Sports will debut a special, hour-long Lightning season preview show.
