The Lightning weren't having a good night on special teams already. Then a very shaky tripping call on Martin St. Louis led to another penalty, which led to a 5-on-3 for New Jersey, which led to demise of Tampa Bay's chances.
New Jersey scored two 5-on-3 goals in 14 seconds to beat the Lightning 4-2. Tampa Bay has lost three straight.
"I will certainly not comment on" the refs said Boucher, but then he added he watched the video of St. Louis' tripping call and "I didn't see anything. I have to look at it another 20 times."
The scores by Andrey Greene and Patrick Elias made it 4-1 with 4:44 left. Matt Carle got one back for the Lightning, whose other goal was by Nate Thompson making it 1-1 in the second period.
However Ilya Kovalchuk's short-handed score gave the Devils a 2-1 advantage with 2:26 left in the second.
