Former Lightning head coach (briefly) Barry Melrose had some friendly words for the team Tuesday morning as a guest with the Sports Page on WDAE.

Melrose gushed about Vincent Lecavalier and said the Lightning are definitely a playoff team.

"They're gonna score, Marty's off to a great start, I like Lindback, I like the changes they made on defense so yeah Tampa Bay's gonna be a playoff team," he said.

When asked for who he has favored to reach the Stanley Cup Melrose, now an analyst for ESPN, went with the Rangers and a surprise selection of Minnesota.
