Like most schools, the Florida Gators walked away from National Signing Day with a few surprises. 

In three years of recruiting in Gainesville, head coach Will Muschamp has been able to flip more than 10 players from their commitments to other schools to sign with the University of Florida. It looked like Tashawn Bower would be the latest name added to the list, but Bower had other plans.  

Earlier in the week, it appeared as if Muschamp and his staff had pried the 4-star defensive end from his soft Auburn commit and there were even reports Wednesday morning that Bower had sent in his Letter of Intent to Florida. However, hours later Bower was at Immaculata High School in Somerville, NJ announcing he was signing with LSU.

One of Muschamp's successful flips, Jarran Reed, made up for Bower's decision to play in Death Valley over Gainseville.

The defensive tackle from Mississippi is one of the nation's top JuCo transfers, and was originally committed to North Carolina - and as late as this week - Ole Miss, before East Mississippi Community College tweeted that Reed was officially a Gator, choosing the Sunshine State over Alabama.

In addition to the 20 ranked players who signed with Florida Wednesday, they had eight early enrollees - all of who are four- or five-star recruits, including long-time commit RB Kelvin Taylor, son of Gator great Fred. 

As promising as the 2013 Florida recruiting class appears to be, it takes years to determine the true impact of National Signing Day.
