Florida senior forward Erik Murphy injured his ribs in practice prior to Sunday's game at Yale, and is uncertain for the SEC opener. Florida's second leading scorer could didn't play against Yale and could miss up to two weeks. But if their is no risk for further damage, Murphy will try to play and manage through the pain.
If Murphy misses time, Gators guards Mike Rosario and Kenny Boynton must step up in his absence. Foward Will Yeguete will likely replace Murphy in the starting lineup, and is known for his strong interior play which might help improve the Gators lack of rebounding.
The Gators (10 - 2) will greatly miss the threat from behind the arc that Murphy provides as they start SEC play against their rival the Georgia Bulldogs at the O'connell Center on Wednesday night.
Wednesday's game will air on sister station 1250 WHNZ.
