While tooling around the web Tuesday I realized, whoops, I called the latest no-name to beat the Rays was named Chris McCallister and his name is Zach. My bad.
The point is, doesn't matter. The opposing pitcher wasn't even relevant. The Rays can get shut down by guys who I don't know the name of, because they just aren't good offensively.
I hate to say this but it's how I feel: if the Rays don't make a trade, I'm not going to stress over if they make the playoffs or not. They won't, and their lack of making a move will be the reason.
The Rays have to do something this year. I'm convinced.
Go the Padres and get a Will Venable. Go the Angels and get a Macier Izturis. You could do it without giving up one of your big guns.
Give up a big gun like Shields? Get something like Chase Headley, Cameron Maybin from the Pads. Still get Izturis.
Nothing spectacular but enough to make enough of a difference to make the playoffs.
