How's this for a change of pace: The Buccaneers are hoping to recharge their special teams unit which struggled in 2012. The team fired Bob Ligashesky this week. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Bucs are hiring Dave Wannstedt to be their new special teams coordinator.
Wannstedt served as the Bills defensive coordinator last season. He was an NFL head coach with the Bears and Dolphins. There is a connection with Bucs head coach Greg Schiano, who served as a defensive assistant under Wannstedt in Chicago from 1996-1998.
The Bucs have not confirmed the hiring of Wannstedt. There was a report from the Football Scoop that the Bucs would hire Paul Ferraro as a special teams coordinator but that never materialized.
