Bucs WR Vincent Jackson is headed to Hawaii. Jackson was named to the Pro Bowl on Tuesday as he replaces Calvin Johnson, who dropped out with an injury.
Jackson had Pro Bowl-type numbers in his first season with the Bucs: 72 receptions for 1,384 yards and 8 touchdowns. VJax averaged more than 19 yards per catch, which was tops in the NFL. This is Jackson's third trip to the Pro Bowl. Jackson signed a 5-year deal to join the Bucs last winter. The team needed a #1 WR and so far, Jackson is paying big dividends.
In a statement released by the team Tuesday afternoon, the wideout thanked the organization and the fans for sending him back to Hawaii for the third time in his career.
“It’s always humbling to be selected to the Pro Bowl, and I would not have been able to achieve this without the help of my coaches, teammates, and the Buccaneers staff. With all of the hard work we put in during the offseason and regular season, for it to be recognized by not only the fans, but also your peers in the league, is simply an incredible honor. I truly appreciate the support and am thrilled to share this amazing experience with the entire Buccaneer Nation.”
