Buccaneer cornerback Eric Wright was back at practice Wednesday after a four-game suspension for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. While Wright did not go into detail on the Adderall use that caused the suspension, he did say plenty about how rotten it felt to miss time.
"It was extremely difficult," Wright told reporters after practice. "Being away from my teammates and my coaches, to have to sit out for four games really hurt."
He apologized to his coaches and the Glazers, who signed him to a five-year, $37.5 million deal as part of Tampa Bay's big free agent haul that included Carl Nicks and Vincent Jackson.
Wright's transgression might jeopardize his stay with the Bucs, as it allows the team to void his guaranteed money for 2013. Tampa Bay could determine to part ways.
But Wright said he hopes to stick around.
"Until somebody tells me otherwise I'm a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. I say that with a lot of pride. I'm just going to continue to work with that mind-set," Wright said.
