Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Greg Schiano preferred not to comment about a report surfacing yesterday about a possible suspension coming for cornerback Eric Wright.
“With the story that broke yesterday in reference to Eric Wright, per the league guidelines I really can’t discuss it and neither can Eric (Wright)” said Schiano in his opening remarks of Monday’s press conference.
The report surfaced yesterday from FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer in which he was told the that the sixth year corner, in his first season with Tampa Bay, will be suspended four games for testing positive for Adderall. This is the Buccaneers second stint in a month with a player found to be taking Adderall without notifying the league offices. Buccaneers CB Aqib Talib was suspended four games with testing positive for Adderall, which he admitted to taking at the beginning of training camp without a prescription.
Schiano continued to say he would not dive into his feelings about the possible suspension, which has yet to officially be handed down from the league. However the Buccaneers head coach did reveal that Wright suffered an Achilles injury during the game against the Vikings on Thursday night.
“He has an Achilles (injury) coming out of the game that is a little bit of a concern” said Schiano. “Didn’t know about it (the injury) after the game, really didn’t know about it till recently. But I think the injury will be ok, but I can’t predict.”
While the team awaits the final word on any possible suspension from the league offices, which are closed till Wednesday due to Hurricane Sandy, Schiano insists that there is no Adderall problem with his team.
