The 2-3 Bucs hit the practice field on Wednesday as they get ready for Sunday’s home game against the 1-4 Saints at Raymond James Stadium.  On the injury report, guard Carl Nicks (foot) was a limited participant on Wednesday.  He should be able to go Sunday against his former team and he’s looking forward to it.  “I’m excited to play against my former team and stick it to them a little bit,” says Nicks.

For the Saints, tight end Jimmy Graham didn’t practice on Wednesday because of an ankle injury.  Head coach Aaron Kromer and quarterback Drew Brees were cautiously optimistic about Graham’s chances of playing Sunday.  Linebackers David Hawthorne (hamstring) and Scott Shanle (sickness) also didn’t practice.

Other Saints injuries of note: CB Jabari Greer (groin) and G Jahri Evans(toe) were limited in practice on Wednesday.  WR Lance Moore (hamstring) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday and should be able to play.  He missed the Saints’ last game.

News & Notes:

  • The Bucs got DE Da’Quan Bowers back on the practice field on Wednesday.  He’s confident that he’ll be able to play this season but it likely won’t be this Sunday against the Saints.  The Bucs have 21 days to activate him from the PUP list.  Expect the team to activate him within the next couple of weeks.  Bowers has been out since May when he ruptured his Achilles tendon.
  • In a conference call on Wednesday, Saints QB Drew Brees was asked about Bucs DT Gerald McCoy. “Yeah, he’s a stud.” The two worked out together during the offseason.
  • McCoy is really impressed with Saints RB Darren Sproles. “He’s the most dangerous weapon they have after #9(Brees)”.
  • We will find out on Thursday at 1pm about the game possibly being blacked out.  The Bucs’ prior 3 regular season home games have been blacked out to this point.
