NFL Hall Of Famer Rod Woodson had some vicious words about suspended Buccaneers CB Aqib Talib when he joined 620WDAE’s “Ron and Ian Show” today. As the suspended CB serves his second game of a four game suspended for violating the league substance abuse policy this Sunday, Woodson offered some advice to Talib.
“At the end of the day, when do you grow up” said Woodson. “You know, when do you start doing things the right way on a consistent basis?”
The eleven time all pro and Super Bowl XXXV champion told Ron and Ian that the notion of Talib as a “shutdown” corner back is simply a false statement.
“If you’re a shutdown corner, no one is ever catching the ball on you. That’s a shutdown, that’s what it means. If the highway is shut down, you can’t go on the highway right” Woodson stated.
When referencing Talib’s performance in the Buccaneers 41-34 loss to the New York Giants where New York WR Hakeem Nicks had a career high 199 yards, Woodson stated “That (Talib) is not a shutdown corner, that seems like the highway’s open like the autobahn.”
Woodson went on to say that Talib is no where in the conversation of a “shutdown” corner back in today’s NFL. Even though Woodson believes Talib is a good player, but not great.
