Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano responded to comments by a former NFL replacement referee who referred to the coach as "college."
Core, speaking on Inside the NFL, which aired on Wednesday night on Showtime, failed to hesitate in naming Schiano when asked who the toughest coach he had to work with was.
"He’s college,’’ Core said. "The rest of them acted at a different level. You could just tell working with them, they were at a different level than what I felt like he was.’’
Schiano appeared on the Steve Duemig show on 620 WDAE Thursday afternoon. Duemig addressed Core's comments and had Schiano weigh in.
"I think if you ask the other guys I don't think you'd get that response," Schiano said. "But, you know, sometimes the shoe fits. Maybe it's not my shoe that fits. Maybe you gotta turn the camera on that one a little bit."
Of all the rookie head coaches, Schiano has certainly stolen the controversial spotlight through the first quarter of the season.
His decision to unleash his players on Eli Manning while taking a knee during the Bucs' Week 2 loss in New York drew national press attention and the ire of New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin as well as several players.
