The Buccaneers make another roster move today as they sign tight end Nate Byham and release defensive end Jeff Charleston.
The 6-4, 264-pound Byham was a 6th round pick of the 49ers back in 2010 out of Pittsburgh. He was regarded as one of the best blocking tight ends in that draft. Byham recorded 5 catches for 27 yards during his rookie season. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL. The Niners released him in August. Byham is now reunited with Bucs tight ends coach Brian Angelichio, who coached Byham at Pittsburgh.
The move gives the Bucs four tight ends on the roster and leaves them with just 3 defensive ends. Expect them to add another defensive end during the bye week.
