The 1-2 Bucs continued their preparations today for Sunday’s game against the 1-2 Redskins at Raymond James Stadium. On the Thursday injury report, CB Anthony Gaitor didn’t practice once again because of a nagging hamstring injury. He appears to be doubtful for this week. Guard Carl Nicks (toe), LB Dekota Watson (chest), CB E.J. Biggers (foot) and CB Leonard Johnson (back) were full participants in practice today.
For the Redskins, WR Pierre Garcon (foot) was limited again in practice on Thursday. He’s missed the last two games and is a big part of their offense. CB Cedric Griffin (hamstring) and T Trent Williams (knee) did not practice. S Brandon Merriweather (knee) and RB Evan Royster (knee) were limited. WR Leonard Hankerson (back) was a full participant at practice. The Redskins also added WR Brandon Banks to the injury report with a hip problem. He was limited on Thursday.
News & Notes:
- As expected, Sunday’s game will be blacked out as the Bucs failed to sell 85% of general admission seats. The only place for live play-by-play action is on 620 WDAE with our coverage beginning at 9am. Kickoff time is at 4:25pm.
- Bucs players were happy to hear the news that the regular officials will be back this week, and so was head coach Greg Schiano: “I heard that got worked out…that’s good. Get us back to normal”.
- Bucs QB Josh Freeman says he’s “real excited” about the plan of attack this week against the Redskins and why not? Washington is 31st in the NFL in pass defense and just lost pass rusher Brian Orakpo for the season with a chest injury.
