Playoff Update: With the talks of realignment looming here is what the playoff picture would look like if the proposed realignment is approved

This is a preliminary rework of NHL realignment. There has always been a behind the scenes push by Detroit and Columbus to join the Eastern Conference. The first draft did not accommodate either of the teams, but this newer one does. However, look at the travel that both the Panthers and the Lightning will have to endure. Basically the miles North will be greater than some of Detroit's and Columbus' trips West, but it will keep them all in their respective time zones.

These are by no means final but it's moving towards THIS very soon. This was out of a story in The USA Today, today

According to the new plan, Detroit would be in a group with Boston, Buffalo, Florida, Montreal, Ottawa, Tampa Bay and Toronto, a division that includes three Original Six rivals in the Bruins, Canadians and Maple Leafs.

Columbus would be with Carolina, New Jersey, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington.
