According to a USA Today report, former Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman's troubles with missing team meetings extended past his tenure in Tampa Bay and into his short tenure in Minnesota.  According to USA Today's Tom Pelissero, four people with knowledge of the situation said that Freeman was late for numerous meetings in his roughly three months with the Vikings. A third Vikings player said Freeman often was among the last players to the facility.

Josh Freeman was released by the Buccaneers in the final year of his rookie contract with the team.  Freeman and the Buccaneers were the focus of a bizarre and personal war, in which the quarterback missed team obligations and the team released him after poorly handling the situation, eating his entire salary in the process.

Included in the report by USA Today, several unnamed Vikings players were quoted as saying that Freeman didn't understand the offense and was called a "debacle" by one player.
