Former Bama OL enters fold

A two-time national champion signed with the Storm on Thursday in the form of offensive lineman Alfred McCullough.

“Alfred is a big strong kid that is going to have the opportunity to come in here and show us what he has,” said vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. “Teams are always looking for athletic big men and we are excited to give him an opportunity.”

McCullough (6-foot-2, 330 lbs., Alabama) will enter his first season in the Arena Football League with the Tampa Bay Storm. A versatile lineman, he saw action at Alabama on both the offensive and defensive line. A two-time national champion with the Tide (2009 and 2011), he received an invitation to rookie mini-camp with the Baltimore Ravens only to sign and attend 2012 training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Athens, AL, native started six games while appearing in 31 for Alabama including two starts at left tackle protecting the blind-side of A.J. McCarron. McCullough also helped lead his high school team (Athens H.S.) to the Class 5A Alabama State Championship his senior season.
