Workouts for pitchers and catchers continued Sunday at the Rays Spring Training complex in Port Charlotte the way manager Joe Maddon likes it: nice and leisurely.

"This time of the year, I like more of a casual pace.  I don't want to push anyone too hard too soon," Maddon explained.  I think that's where you set up for injury if you attempt to do that.

"You don't try to get everything done in one day.  You space it out.  You build up into the momentum of the season."

Among the pitchers throwing their first bullpen session of the Spring was starter Matt Moore, who thought the session went as good as can be expected.

"I threw 30 to 35 pitches.  It was nice seeing [Jose] Molina back there again and having a familiar target,"  Moore said after practice Sunday.  "It was definitely a good day one for us."

POSITION PLAYERS REPORTING SUNDAY: OF Wil Myers (who had a great tale of his travels to Port Charlotte), UTL Sean Rodriguez, OF Matt Joyce, and minor-league OF Mikie Mahtook all reported to Port Charlotte Sunday to begin spring workouts.  Just a handful of position players have yet to report to camp, including 3B Evan Longoria, SS Yunel Escobar, 2B Ben Zobrist, and 1B James Loney.

FOR MONDAY: The sixteen pitchers who threw their first bullpen sessions on Saturday will make their second round of tossing off the mound Monday, including starters David Price, Alex Cobb and Jake Odorizzi, and relievers Jake McGee and Grant Balfour.  Practice begins at 9:30 at Charlotte Sports Park, and is expected to last around two hours.
