Be The Distant Thunder Glass Installed In Toronto Before Exhibition Game

Bolts - Group Hug

(via Tampa Bay Lightning Communications) - The Tampa Bay Lightning’s fan-signed glass, part of the “Be The Distant Thunder” campaign, has made its way north of the border and has been installed at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto for today’s game against the Florida Panthers (Noon – FOX Sports Sun, 1250WHNZ).

Bolts fans were given the opportunity to come to AMALIE Arena for one of two signing events held on July 24 and 25. Registration for the events was full within 30 minutes of the initiative being announced via social media. The glass then flew to Toronto with the Lightning on the team charter and was installed into the rink system at Scotiabank Arena at 10 a.m. today. Fans are also being encouraged to find glass in their own lives to write messages to cheer the Bolts on in the playoffs.

In addition, several Lightning players signed another piece of glass as a tribute to healthcare workers and other frontline staff. This player-signed glass has since been installed as a safety barrier at the emergency room front desk at AdventHealth hospital in Tampa.
