Rays Make Deal To Bring In d'Arnaud

ST. PETERSBURG (WDAE) -- The backstop combination on Nick Ciuffo and Anthony Bemboom looks to be short-lived.

Prior to Friday's game, the Tampa Bay Rays made a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, acquiring catcher Travis d'Arnaud in exchange for cash considerations.

d'Arnaud played ten games this season for the New York Mets, but went 2 for 23 before being released. He was then signed by the Dodgers and appeared in one game.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Rays transferred third baseman Matt Duffy to the 60-day disabled list, and a corresponding move on the 25-man roster will be made when d'Arnaud reports to the team.
