First Wave Of Cuts Announced

PORT CHARLOTTE (WDAE) -- As expected, the Tampa Bay Rays made their first set of roster cuts to big-league camp Saturday.

Five players were optioned to the minors: infielder Christian Arroyo, right-handed pitchers Ian Gibaut and Brent Honeywell, and outfielders Joe McCarthy and Jesus Sanchez.

Five others were reassigned to minor-league camp: shortstop Lucius Fox, left-handed pitchers Matt Krook and Dalton Moats, catcher David Rodriguez and right-handed pitcher Curtis Taylor.

The big-league camp now stands at 57 players.
