According to multiple sourced reports, the Tampa Bay Rays could be on the verge of announcing where they would prefer their new stadium site to be. The Tampa Bay Times in conversations with Hillsborough County Commissioner Ken Hagan have cited an announcement Friday afternoon that the Tampa Bay Rays will be announcing the Ybor City site near the channel district in Tampa as the preferred site for their new ballpark.
"This is a major step," said Hagan to the Tampa Bay Times, who added he was given this news from the team. "I’m hopeful this will continue to build momentum on our effort to bring the Tampa Bay Rays to Ybor. Tomorrow’s announcement will go a long way toward that, and I imagine at some point in the near future they’ll announce their ballpark design."
As for how the stadium project could be funded, that is still yet to be determined.
