Archer Heading To Miami For Mid-Summer Classic

ST. PETERSBURG (620 WDAE) -- The Tampa Bay Rays learned Friday that they will have a second player on the American League All-Star Team.

Pitcher Chris Archer was named as a replacement for a pitchers that would be ineligible to pitch in the game.  Archer, Houston's Chris Devenski, Toronto's Roberto Osuna, and Minnesota's Brandon Kintzler were named to replace Yu Darvish of the Rangers, Michael Fulmer of the Tigers, Dallas Keuchel of Houston and Cleveland's Corey Kluber.

Archer will join starting DH Corey Dickerson and manager Kevin Cash in Miami for the game July 11.
