Odorizzi Leaves Game With Hamstring Injury

The Tampa Bay Rays had to pull their starting pitcher, Jake Odorizzi, at the start of the second inning of Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox.

Odorizzi threw the first pitch of the inning to Mitch Moreland before calling for manager Kevin Cash and head trainer Ron Porterfield.  He threw a couple of warmup pitches before being removed from the game and being replaced by Erasmo Ramirez.

The team said the right-hander was lifted with left hamstring tightness.  It's the same hamstring that was hit by a line drive by Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays in his last start Sunday at Tropicana Field.

After the game, he was placed on the 10-day disabled list, with right-hander Chase Whitley getting recalled from Durham.
