School bus involved in crash on Hwy 579

THONOTOSASSA, Fla. (970 WFLA)According to the Hillsborough County School District, all of the Armwood High School students and the bus driver involved in the crash this morning have been released from the hospital.  

The school bus transporting the Armwood students was involved in a crash at Hwy 579 & Bay Hills Circle, deputies said. 

The driver of the other vehicle and 11 students were transported to UCH complaining of minor neck injuries, deputies said.

Hwy 579 was shut down in both directions, according to HCSO.

Hillsborough County firefighters said total of 21 students were on the bus - plus the bus driver and that a second vehicle involved in the accident had one driver.

Firefighters said they treated and transported a total of 15 patients - one adult and 14 students - from the bus; all of which had minor injuries, nothing life-threatening. Firefighters said the driver of the second vehicle went to the hospital with a family member.
