The challenge has been made. Eagles speedy wideout DeSean Jackson dropped the gauntlet to Bucs cornerback Darrelle Revis: Try and catch me.
Jackson told reporters on Tuesday that Revis "can't run with me." Back in 2011, Revis faced Jackson when the Eagles took on the Jets. Jackson said Revis told him "you're too fast, slow down."
Those are fighting words indeed. Revis responded to Jackson's comments on Wednesday in the Bucs locker room.
"I'm not fast, he's fast. Fast people are allowed to say those types of things," Revis laughed.
With that being said, Revis says he's not backing down from the challenge.
"I've covered him before in the past. It was a good battle then and we'll see what happens this time around," Revis said. "I'm not in here to discuss who's the fastest. I'm not running for the Olympics or nothing like that and he's not either. I'm here to compete and play."
By the way, Revis held Jackson to two catches for 28 yards in that 2011 matchup. Now, Jackson wants payback. If Revis can duplicate that kind of effort on Sunday, then the Bucs may just get their first win of the season.
